Welcome to my studio page!

I have been teaching singing lessons for over 20 years. It is, without a doubt, one of my favorite things to do. There is much joy in journeying with fellow human beings as they uncover all the things their voice (and body) can do.

Experience with my own voice, and with students over the years, has led me to a teaching philosophy that is student-centered with an emphasis on exploration and play. Just like every body, every voice is unique with its own strengths and weaknesses. In lessons, we work to discover your unique voice, while learning to sing in a manner that is easy and effortless. Lessons are playful, yet informative and explorative, and free of stressful expectations and ideals. In doing all of this, you LEARN about your voice, instead of me TEACHING you about your voice. How empowering is that!?

All are welcome, though please note that this studio is best for those who are self-motivated and open to exploring. Feel free to reach out via the Contact page with questions about pricing, frequency, virtual lessons, etc.

Experience

I have a BM, MM, and DMA in Vocal Performance. I have studied traditional vocal pedagogy, Vocology, Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method, as well as at the One Voice Centre for Integrative Studies. In addition, I am familiar with the work of Katherine Fitzmaurice, Kristin Linklater, Patsy Rodenberg, Jo Estill, and other singing and theater voice practitioners. While pursuing my doctorate, I also studied the neurology of the speaking and singing voice for my dissertation. I like voice science A LOT. You might say I know some things.

About my method

My studio is the place for you if you have an issue that you have struggled to diagnose and fix. I consider myself a technician above all else, tying together anatomy, neurology, and psychology into an interesting and playful package so that you understand what isn’t working and how we are going to work to make it better. I work with all styles of singing and am supremely respectful of variances between styles. My opinion is that healthy technique should only enhance your sound and style, not detract from it.
